What tuners are available for the Bouzouki, I hate to have to buy 12 to get 8 and I am not too interested in using Mandolin sets as I don't like the 4 on a plate setup. Fred |

Some suppliers like StewMac sell individuals. On my last bouzouki build that is where I bought the 8 tuners I needed. individual Gotoh minis. |

I buy 3 sets of Gotoh Mini's at LMI to get the discount. That will do a 10-stringer and an 8-stringer. I think Shane at High Mountain sells individual Gotoh Mini's and I'm sure LMI does as well. The Gotoh Mini's are my favorite because they look great and also have the 18:1 gear ratio which I think is ideal for fine tuning paired strings. They are expensive though so I would like to hear some other alternatives. Attachment: 6.jpg

I was leaning towards the gotoh 510 mini as I use the Delta 510's on my guitars, LMI lists singles but shows not available on the web site. I was looking at the Gotoh open back Uke tuners which appear very similar to the guitar open backs but have an adjustable post height but am not sure if they would be strong enough. Has anyone actually had their hands on the Uke tuners and has an opinion on them. Fred |

Fred i use grover n8 open back uke tuners.I think I paid abt 12 $ for a set of 4, 2-3 years ago from a musician wholesale supplier in S. florida , sorry but forgot their name , they have an 800 number an do internet sales. I would say the tuners are just OK nothing fancy , I would clasify them as budget tuners. Perhaps someone else might be familiar with the name of the company? |

I just ordered two sets of 6 from one of those chinese ebay dealers to use 10 for a cittern. Funny thing is they look alomost exactly like the grovers, even are sealed gear tuners. Very sturdy and 18:1 ratio too... I'd love to have the name brand mini's, but at $16 for the two sets I cannot justify spending 4x as much. If the generic ones are of interest to you I can find the dealer info. |

IIRR Allparts http://www.allparts.com/delta will sell individuals. Not listed as such on the site but if you call them I think they can be had. Alan D. |

I have used DG1032L and DG1032R mini tuners from Tony Dixon Music on a bouzouki and they work well. I don't know if they do international deliveries but don't see why not. http://www.tonydixonmusic.co.uk/catalog ... tsforinsts |

That tantalising bouzoki headstock made me want to see the rest of it! |

I used Delta 510 minis on one of my zooks & found them too heavy for comfort. The combination of eight tuners on a long neck, balanced with a very light body has sent me looking for a much lighter alternative. I have a zook on the bench & will have to decide on tuners soon... Not sure what I'll choose, yet. Probably something with open gears to keep the weight down as low as possible. |

Might be a task for Gotoh stealth tuners to keep the weight down if cost is not the factor. Fred |

Quote: I can highly recommend Hipshot tuners. Very good quality and you can buy as many or as little as you like. On Nigel's recommendation I ordered a set of 8 hipshot tuners for the Bouzouki and they are very nice, smooth turning, no gear lash and a nice small size. Just might order some for a guitar project in the near future. Fred |
