If you have a large enough router to handle it, I really like the Freud 50-138 router bit. It's carbide with a 2" diameter with a 2" cutting height. The bigger diameter provides a much cleaner cut and I find it especially useful for routing the headstock and other applications where you cut across endgrain. It is an expensive bit but will cut cleaner than any of the smaller diameter bits.
