I've started using elastic rope to install bindings and purflings. It's working really well. At the moment I glue one side, when set, glue other side. I'm wondering does anyone glue both sides at once using a roping method, if so, how? |

Joe: I rope my bindings but only do one piece at a time. If you do two(or four.......good luck) you have to start at the waist and then work out to the upper and lower bouts. One at a time is enough for me but it is a slower process. Tom |

I started doing both side before roping. I now just do one side at the time. That seems to work best for me. |

I just bound a guitar by roping two sides of binding at a time using a 40' 1/4" cotton clothesline and a carriage like Todd's. I'm sold on the method. I did the last guitar using the rubber bands and prefer the rope simply for storage purposes. The bands got tangled to high heaven. |

I use tape and can do all 4 quads at one sitting. I use that strapped packing tape that is mentioned in Trevor's Book. |

Just sort of lift the bundle of worms and shake out those that have not already flown across shop. The bands and I got off to a bad start. They came tangled and knotted, and from that moment on it was like trying to braid Rapunzel's hair. |

I use 1/8" shock cord for my ukuleles. If I was doing guitars I would go with 3/16". I get 100 foot rolls on ebay |
