Well, my first scratch build guitar has been in the store for a week now, so I decided to go in yesterday and check things out. The guitar is in great shape and has been played a fair bit according to the sales staff. I spoke with them about the guitar and feedback coming from customers and the only complaint is that one customer thought there was too much lacquer on the neck. ![]() ![]() Sooooo, that prompted me to get my butt in gear and get my website finished. I've been working on it for the last few days, trying to get it to the point where I could make it live. There's still a fair bit to do on the site, but at least I have something for a prospective customer to come have a look at while they're contemplating whether or not to buy one of my guitars. Here's my site : http://www.flindallguitars.com Thoughts? Suggestions? Comments? Btw - I absolutely hate writing any sort of text - that portion of my site needs a lot of work. I hate talking about myself. And I use the word handcrafted a lot - sue me! lmao. ![]() |

It looks quite good, well done. I didn't see any pricing though, maybe from looking on an iPad? |

Very classy site, Rob. I like the "Elements" idea. Good luck and congratulations. |

Yes, I see it now. I like seeing people's prices independent of specific guitars. As in, base x, option x = guitar of your fancy. And, though it be a very minor thing, I expect most people want to see dread with an A.... ![]() |

Wish I had computer skills. You can hire somebody to do your web site. I wish I had Rob's building skills! ![]() Your site looks good, Rob. If I find I can't build a decent guitar, I'll just hop on Hwy. 115 and come see you! Alex |

Congrats on the good in-store feedback, Robert. Nice looking site, too. I do have one minor criticism. In the close up photo of your bridge pins they appear to be incompletely seated and are standing proud at varying heights. When I'm looking at custom guitars, I like to see a greater attention to such details. It's a small thing, but it kind of sticks out. (Yes, pun intended.) ![]() It's pretty amazing what one can accomplish by using a Wordpress template, eh? For those of you thinking of creating a website of your own, you should do a little digging into that area. You may be surprised by the excellent options available that don't require exceptionally high-level computer skills. |

Very nice implementation of the WooTheme ![]() I agree. Writing copy can be really awkward. I think you did a nice job. |

I told ya' I hate writing copy! Thanks for the catch on the A in dreadnaught. I can't believe how many times I misspelled that! ![]() Alex - anytime you want to go for a drive, my door is always open! Mind you, you might be a good excuse to come down the 115 and hit Busy Bee, Lee Valley and your place! ![]() George - glad to see I'm not the only one with OCD! That picture bugs me too. I had taken off the strings to buff up the saddle before I had pictures taken, but when I put the strings back on, I was running out of time before I needed to get to the photographer, so I put the strings back on fairly quickly. I didn't even think about the bridge pins until I got the pictures back. I'm going to have to have that one redone. Wordpress has been pretty great for making a site like this. I've made sites from scratch, used Joomla, Ning and others, but Wordpress has been pretty straightforward so far. And the WooThemes has added a nice professional look to the site ![]() It seems silly only having one guitar on there right now, but the wenge is almost done and I'll have photos taken of that one for the site. I'll soon be starting on a parlor and a jumbo as well. But hey, you've got to start somewhere. |

Drop by any time, Rob! I work from my home shop, so I'm always around. Lee Valley is a 20 min. door to door from my place, and I can offer a better lunch and coffee than Tim Horton's! I hope that we can get together soon. ![]() Alex |
