So, all is well. Still need to fine tune the setup. But one issue has me baffled. I suspect it has to do with the saddle. The E, B, and A strings are a bit "muted". I'm using a uncompensated bone saddle (for now). Do I need a "sharper" edge on the saddle? (its rounded for now). Mike |

Round should be fine. Maybe it's a bad set of strings? |

Mike: Have you considered it may be varying density in the bone saddle? I use a wide saddle and have not had a problem with amount of contact area as long as the string leaves the saddle at it's high point. Tom |

OK, I will post a pic tonight. Gonna stop by a local guitar shop and buy a couple of those synthetic, compensated bridges to test that theory. |

Ok. So I installed a tusq saddle. I do not like that material. I'd rather grind bone any day. But, that was not the issue. I discovered I had a nut seating problem. It was a bit lifted in the E A side. Got some of it fixed tonight and there was a marked improvement. Had to go to church band practice so I did not finish tonight. But it sounds MUCH better already.
