Just getting ready to glue up some neck blanks for a couple of classicals, but have enough Spanish Cedar for 4 necks. Since I'm thinking it's about time to try a steel string, I was wondering if anyone has used Spanish Cedar for these. I do have some mahogany that I can use, but I really like how light the cedar is. Thanks for any guidance. Marty |

I use it occasionally, usually on 12 fretters, but sometimes on 14 fretters. My personal guitar is a 14 fret with a Spanish Cedar neck and I'm starting on a 14 fret commission with one. No problem at all using Spanish Cedar. Plenty strong and it is generally lighter than Honduran, though not always. As long as you use some type of truss rod or carbon fiber, you'll be fine. |

Martin uses a boatload of it. I'm sure a lot of other companies do, too. It's been proven to make a good SS neck a thousand times over. |

Thanks, guys; I somehow had it in my head that Spanish Cedar was chiefly used used in Classicals and not used in SS for some reason. Marty |
