I called up industrial blades for a quote for a 1/2in 3 tpi tri- master carbide bS blade abt $151 plus $12 shipping the laguna resaw king is $ 247 no shipping 3/4in 2-3 tpi 143in blade for my s-45 minimax . The laguna salesman said one can get 4 sharpenings from the resaw king for 45$ including shipping . The tri- master would probably only get 1-2 sharpenings max?/ according to the rep. Have any of you experience with these blades ?? If so which one is a better buy in your opinion before I plunk down the $$$ Thanks |

Thanks Filippo, yup lots of hype from lagoony, ,probably get the tri-master.Todd I made a frame saw as shown , works vy well and have used it to resaw vln billets. |

Lenox Woodmaster CT. It's cheap, it may not give such a great surface finish (on par with Diemaster I would say) but it's carbide so it will cut abrasive wood. If your saw can handle it I'd definitely go with that. Only thing is that it doesn't really like thin stock (anything less than 3" thick) as it gives very rough finish. It's a resaw blade so use it accordingly. Everyone seems to like it... mine just sits on the wall because I can't find anything to resaw at the moment, so it's got a 1/4" carbon steel blade on it (that refuses to go dull for whatever reason, and I still got a whole coil left!) |

I got a Morse 3 tpi carbide FB... It was about 2/3 the price of the more expensive Laguna or Lennox blade.. It cuts well... I don't really think it's able to be resharpened... Not sure, though... I think the only major downside I see with carbide is the width of the cut/kerf.... Mine cuts about 0.080" or so... so it's a lot more wood loss than with one of the narrower cut bands... Thanks |

.080 is a little too much for a frugal loofier resawing rosewoods etc. |

yes - but you might want to look into the kerf on the other carbide bands before you go that direction.... Most carbide bands cut a pretty large kerf.... The notable exception is the Laguna resaw king.... Unfortunately, several here had pretty unfavorable experiences with them.... That - and the price are probably the largest reasons folks go with the Carbon steel bands of one flavor or another.... You go from an 0.080" kerf to a 0.030" kerf... X 4 slices and you are getting 1 extra slice... Thanks |
