I have to wait for the bridge glue to set so I thought I would show off my latest guitar project. This is a D28ish East Indian Rosewood, Sitka Spruce with curly maple bindings guitar. It is finished with Target Coatings EM6000 on top of zpoxy for the back, sides and neck and on blond shellac for the top. The head stock veneer, fret board and bridge are Brazilian Rosewood. The bindings and all of the Brazilian were purchased from the classified. .jpg) .jpg) .jpg) .jpg) .jpg)

Nice job, John. That's a handsome guitar! I like the curly maple bindings against the dark rosewood. Well done. |

Wow, I think I can see MY reflection in that! From across an ocean! (Funnily enough, over the last few days, I've been oiling the same combination of woods - rosewood, spruce, and curly maple binding - but it is the total opposite: a dark dull satin sheen... Lovely in its own way but nowhere near as impressive in the way yours is.) |

Thanks all for the kind comments and encouragement. Nick, a few months from now your guitar will still have that lovely satin sheen, this guitar will not look as shiny. But it is fun to deliver it this way. For a buffer setup I have the older stewmac arbor with 3 14" cotton weave wheels on each side. The motor is a 3/4 horse 1725 RPM. I think the pulleys give me a 2.5 to 1 reduction so around 690 rpm. I used Miranda polishing compound medium -> fine -> I raked the fine wheel and used extra fine. Before buffing I used micro mesh up to 2400 with my orbital sander. |

John, I've been trying to convince myself that I really don't like the mirror finish on some of these guitars, but I can't keep being a denier. Your guitar (love the binding) and finish are awesome. ![[:Y:]](./images/smilies/smiley20.gif "Thumbs Up") Now I wonder what else, I need to re-think? |
