Hi, I'm looking for someone to build me a custom neck for my electric guitar - turns out this isn't an easy search! Is there anyone out there who can do this? I'm based in the UK. My guitar is an Ibanez and is currently fitted with one of their 24-fret Wizard III necks. I'm looking to replace this with a neck that has: - a thinner nut width - a thicker profile (similar to Fender styles) I'm also considering adjustments to the scale, and maybe an asymmetric neck. I've tried contacting Warmoth, but unfortunately nothing they make is compatible with 24-fret Ibanez guitars. Thanks! |

I could gladly make a neck for you. But I don't know what shipping would cost to get it to you. Less width at nut and a thicker profile are no problem but adjustments to the scale length may be difficult without modifying the neck pocket or bridge location on the body. |

I think changing scale length without modifying the neck pocket or bridge location is possible... Warmoth has conversion necks after all. What will have to happen is you will move the nut, and re-establish the fret spacing based on the calculation... Meaning a longer scale neck will have a longer neck, and a shorter scale neck will have a shorter neck, etc. I can do it as well if you are willing to pay the shipping costs but I think there should be plenty of luthiers in the UK who can help you. Ideally I would need your guitar... meaning you'll have to ship it here as well because it's difficult for me to establish the proper spacing without knowing what it is on the guitar... plus I'd prefer to be able to install it and make sure it works out before giving it back to you. |

Check on the net for a luthier specializing in electrics maybe in your area, get a costing. There are surprisingly quite a few. What area are you? Shipping your axe abroad and back would be expensive, and duty would be charged on any added value (at best, the cost of the neck and work) |

Thanks, everyone, for your help. Also, thanks B. Howard and Tai Fu for your offer of making me a neck. If it was easy for me to drop my guitar in to you I'd totally explore this further, but I've decided to keep searching in the UK - hopefully some of the links suggested on here will lead to something. Thanks again, Oscar |
