For use with under powered bandsaws in combination with a table saw. Wood is 7 inch wide teak, with upper guides removed max cut on standard 14 inch Delta 8+ inches. |

So it looks like you ran a tablesaw slot on one side of the board and used it a track to resaw said board without a fence via nail guide? |

I think he cut both sides max depth with the table saw then using a nail imbedded in the base as a guide, he ran it through the band saw to cut the remaining (center) wood. You could use a hand saw to remove the center but this is easier and more accurate. Michael |

That is clever. But, if you cut both sides with the table saw, do you need the nail? |

I've done 8"+ resaw with my table saw, but I lose about 3/16" to the kerf, and the book match is not as good as a band saw cut. Alex |

Michael has it right - most of the wood is removed by the table saw. Depending on the abilities of your machines you can cut more or less with the tablesaw or bandsaw. I used a 1 1/2hp unisaw and a 3/4hp bandsaw. The thin kerf blade cut a 3/32 in. kerf, about half of what Alex's (12 or 14 inch?) blade cut. The nail guides the bottom and the upper kerf helps you guide the top. The 1/4 inch bandsaw blade doesn't have a lot of drag and can be tensioned well by a 14 inch cast iron frame bandsaw. I have a 20 inch/2 hp Delta bandsaw in another building, but have so much junk piled around it that for resawing a few pieces I still use this method. |
