Why would they make a tuner with two holes? And neither one in the center of the shaft?

Because you would only need six of them to do a 12 string? laughing6-hehe

You sure the lower one isn't in the center of the shaft? Maybe you can use it for a slot head or a peg head?

Yes, I'm sure. I bought some, holes are on either end of the shaft. Totally useless. Clinton

Grover Sta-tite 97's.
They gotta fit something, because Grover didn't just make them that way to mess with your head.
I'll guess slot-head 12 string Harmonys might use them.

I'm not so sure. I'm not impressed with Grover tuners. I'll go further: the Grover's I've seen were somewhere between bad, and hopeless. Back in the day, they may have been the best option. At this point, you can probably find something better on ebay. Certainly, Gotoh and Schaller offer a better bang for the buck.

The bottom hole is for slotheads. The straight string post is another clue that it is a 'universal' tuner.

The 18:1 Grovers are a much nicer option.

They are better-machined and better-looking. And the button is not backwards on those.

I bought some Wilkerson Fender type tuners. The second hole in these tuners are intended to "lock" the strings by passing the strings through both holes. Neat idea but the strings are a pain to remove.

The only Schaller I could find was 3 on a plate. I already drilled the headstock for Waverly's, 1/4", and I didn't want to plug the hole and re-drill for Gotoh. Gotoh's has a sleeve on the end of the shaft that is , I believe, 11/32". Oh well, I ordered the Gotoh's and I'll plug the holes. idunno Clinton

These adapter bushings may work for you: http://www.allparts.com/TK-0900-001-Ada ... _3709.html

Grover retooled a few years ago and are a darn tuner now.
