Wooow! The guitar and the playing! The close up on the strings vibrating is like the diagrams (that I still do't quite understand) come to life! |

Wow is right!!! She sounds fantastic Max and this player is an enormous talent as well. Is this the guitar that we got to see and play in Ann Arbor? |

So cool! I had a chance to introduce myself to him at the Tomatito show in DC, but the flow of crowd and conversation dragged us to opposite sides of the lobby. I see the light-colored bindings :^) A close-up, por favor? |

Amazing guitar, and playing! I like the way the camera captures de different vibrations on the strings, are those actually the partials of the string or just a sight effect? |

I think those funny waves on the string are sometimes an illusion caused by the way the camera captures the image. I do not know how modern cameras work, but if you scan across a moving image, you get weird things. Old film cameras sometimes had focal plane shutters, which were a slit that moved across the aperture. If the object was moving, straight lines could come out curved in a still photo. |

munen wrote: Amazing guitar, and playing! I like the way the camera captures de different vibrations on the strings, are those actually the partials of the string or just a sight effect? Only an effect of the camera, capturing one scanline at a time. Next scanline, the string has moved a bit (at its fundamental frequency, partials are much smaller amplitude), and so on, which ends up looking like a sine wave. Great guitar and playing ![]() ![]() |

Thanks, for the kind words everyone. Yes, Hesh that's the same guitar. As you see the player can make a bit of difference ![]() Jim, the light colored bindings were an idea that I got from you. I used Costello/Castello/Costelo, also called Boxwood (although it isn't truly Boxwood). Its a near match for the Cypress, colorwise, but quite hard and dense. Here's a picture. Thanks Max. I did get myself a chunk of Costello too, but haven't used it yet so I was very curious to see how close a match it is. Pretty good! I'm going to keep using the similar scheme. |
