Finally finshed a guitar zouk that had been sitting around for a while - I got a fuji mini mite at christmas [:Y:]
Based on a 3/4 size om shape
650mm scale

b/s and headplate: walnut
top: sitka with some bear claw
neck: sapele
f'board/bridge: macassar
frets: gold evo
purfling: something from karin rost
rosette: some sort of paint (pebeo maybe - cant remember!)
tuners: rubner
finish: morrells pre cat

I am very pleased how it has turned out with a lovely tone and very long sustain - possibly due to being built light with a heavy neck?
just have to learn how to play it now.....

Very nice!

How do you tune it? I've built a few of these, and I'm currently building a short scale (25,4" minus two frets, whatever that works out to) with a 00 body. If you tune a 650mm in fifths, you get to do some pretty heavy left hand stretches, depending on playing style of course. Fun instruments!

Nice work Derek! I've built a few of these. I'm just finishing up one that is 27" scale. I usually tune mine GDAD, but I also have players that tune them ADAD. Like Arnt said, fun instruments.

Very nice. Looks like a wider neck and string spacing than usual?

I have it tuned GDAD and yes they are very fun to play! I play a bit of guitar in DADGAD so made the neck quite a bit wider - nut is 40mm string spacing 50mm. The idea was to have something else to play and also get a bit more practice with compensation, nut making etc. I have discovered tabledit and abc files from thesession.org to try to get some tabs to practice. I am originally from N Ireland and grew up hating 'diddley dee' music - but as I have got older I appreciate it a lot more!!
