I am building an OM with Peruvian walnut B&S, sinker redwood top, padauk fingerboard and bridge, and zebra wood bindings and radial Purfling. I've had a plug cutter for a long time and was thinking that maybe 1/4" zebra wood position makers might look good. I also have some 1/4" yellow mother of pearl dots and 3 mm abalone dots. Of course, I could also not put any position markers in, except for on the edge... What do you think? ...also, they could be placed with the lines of the zebra vertical, horizontal or random. I'm leaning toward Radom orientation...

The large pores in zebra might fill with dirt. Perhaps you could seal them with CA?
