I have wanted to do a podcast for at least the last 3 years. I have been thinking I could start small, with a list of canned questions. I could then travel to various Luthiers (I would start local) Maybe Bryan Galloup, Gary Zimnicki, Mark Swanson, I could think of 20 great builders with in 2 hours of my home. Then, if that goes well, I could expand on it and open up to a free form interview. Again, if that goes well and we could find some sponsors for the Podcast I could even expand to some longer travel and open up the entire North American Luthier community. What will make this work is downloads. Listeners. The amount of listeners will determine if I can find sponsors. If I find sponsors then I will be able to take on the expenses of travel, time and equipment. If I decide to give this a go, I will make a list of a bunch of Mich,Oh, In, IL luthiers. Then I will create a poll to ask who YOU would like to hear from first. If you have read this far ![]() Thanks! |

Not to be a curmudgeon, but... Though podcasts are all the rage, I'm not that into them. I much prefer printed interviews. So on that note, in the age of the internet, you could do interviews with any luthier anywhere in the world without incurring any expense beyond your internet bill... |

I could see posting an accompanying transcript to the podcast. Especially in the beginning when I will be working with canned questions. Not a bad idea Ed |

Lance I'm new to computers. I use an iPhone 5s. Have never listened to a podcast but if I it was conducted by you(someone I feel I know somewhat) I would be a listener. I'd like to pose a question. Another forum I belong to has get together a where the people can meet and interact. Does this forum do such a thing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd like to chime in on the Facebook sharing. I have many guitar friends on my Fb page. One builder, two working Tech's,a bunch of players. I live in a small town 60 miles SE of Nashville. So there is an abundance of guitar players here. Personally I think their teething rings are in the shape of a guitar. So yes I'd share on fb. I do now as all my friends follow my builds and I have picked up a commission from fb as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sounds like a great idea Lance. I listen to podcasts all the time on my subway rides to and from the office. I also like the historical value to these podcasts. You might also want to video. |

One of my close friends put together a year long podcast project as part of the research for a book project. Her husband has hosted a podcast for a few years now (196 episodes). The audio is good, but they don't travel. I can ask them how they do it if you'd like? |

I have a distant relationship with podcasts. I download and listen to Nuestro Flamenco from Radio 5 in Spain, partially as an addict to the music and partially to try to keep my Spanish ear a little exercised (doesn't do much for the mouth, though). I also listen to the Fine Woodworking podcast, although that is starting to drift away a little - I occasionally couldn't tell you what the episode was about right after it is over. I could probably replace that one ![]() Posting my completed builds on FB is literally the only thing I use it for, aside from a very occasional share. I'd be happy to explore that avenue, but I don't get there often. |

Jim, I am on the flip side of that coin. I only listen to podcasts. Adam Carolla being my #1 favorite. But I also listen to Freakanomics, Radiolab, The Moth, Stuff you should know... A lot of public radio that has been archived. Often I start listening to a program on the way to work, then once at work I can continue listening on my PC. |

Lance, I think that is a great idea. It would be a good way to record your visits to different luthiers & share your experiences and knowledge. |

I'd listen to the podcast and if for some reason I couldn't, I'd read the transcript. No doubt I'd enjoy hearing featured builders I know from here talking about their work! |

I bet I could manage to listen to them since I know the players! Makes it much more appealing. |
