I am about to start a build and the customer has requested curly Koa binding and armrest bevel, I have some nice binding but nothing large enough to do the armrest veneer. An orphan side would do a great job as I could cut the binding and veneer from the same piece and have a real good match. I have done the internet search and talked to Bob at Pegasus and no one has any real high figure wood available. Any thoughts or available wood in any ones collection of orphan tops. Price is not an issue if the wood is good. Fred |

I recommend contacting either Bruce at Notable or Kerry Char. Ken Jones Mountain Song Guitars |

+1 on Bruce at Notable. He had some great Koa at the GAL convention. Plus he tends to grade conservatively |

Fred, I'd check out Rollo's site here: http://www.koaguitars.com/guitars.html I think he is a member here. His guitars are beyond beautiful. He uses some of the best koa I've ever seen. It might be worth it to ask him where he gets it. For some reason I think it is Notable Tonewoods but I'm not sure why I think that. He is in Hawaii so he probably uses a local supplier. |

Thanks for the responses I have enough Koa coming to veneer the armrest from Bruce and have enough good binding to make it happen. Fred |
