Some many years ago a group of OLF'ers got together and unbeknownst to me decided to gift me a custom guitar as a thanks for creating the OLF. To this day I am still in awe every time I see this beauty and what it represents. It is displayed on a wall mount directly out side my shop door in my homes family room for everyone to see. I wanted to make this post for two reasons. One, to once again thank EVERYONE that was involved in making this happen. A very long list of very good friends. Second, for the many new OLF'ers that have never seen it or heard of it. I think this represents what a great group of people this community is made up of. We have had some up and some downs over the years, but our community has persevered for over 10 years. Spreading knowledge, friendship and good will many times over. This guitar gets played by me, I have used it in church but mostly just sitting on my sofa and listening to its sweet tones. I remember the shipping nightmare... I think I braced the top, and then Matt Gage and I assembled it to the body at his old shop. Then we shipped it to someone else, and the top got crushed or something during shipping... <Ick> I think John Hall may have replaced the top at that point, but I can't be sure. |

Yep from way back. I remember the frog inlay thing was when Craig was or was going to do an online inlay class when that was a feature of this site. I know profile shows me only a newbie and couple of post, but had to reregister because of computer thing. Been here since day one, although not post or participate much any more since closed up shop. Now back as I have to build myself a guitar since I gave away all the ones I built. Even though I made several for myself, one reason or another they all went bye, bye. Now want to learn to play so collecting stuff up to make one and this time will keep it. |

That's cool, Lance. Glad you are still making music with it. Stan - Good to see you posting again and to know that you are back to building guitars. Can't wait to see what you dream up. |

Glad you are going to dust off your tools Stan! I've been here since close to day one when we all had our pictures on the membership page and our serial numbers were single digits. (And we thought we knew a whole lot more than we really did) We all owe you one Lance, thanks a million. You still building on a regular basis? |

Beautiful guitar, Lance. That is a well deserved tribute, and one that will last for many years. I remember following along when it was being built. I can't remember how they kept it from Lance until it was finished. James Wow! I just looked back at the membership list. I was #306 in July, 2005. Now there are almost 8900 members. 10 years coming up for me. |

I still have the original top hanging in my shop with the joint split wide open and several braces loose. |

Thanks for the kind words Terence, I am building yes, regular basis, not so much. I get as much shop time as I can. My kids take the rest. I know my guitar building will always be there for me. The window for being a dad with two at home daughters is closing faster than I care to admit. Empty nest syndrome honestly scares me to death. So its safe to say that my time and attention are being spent where it needs to be right now. |

A sweet guitar and a great story behind it. Enjoy the kids - they'll be gone off on their own before you know it; plenty of time to build guitars. |
