Old Stanley USA 4 1/2 I bought from ebay cheap had a cracked body, so yesterday afternoon/evening I recycled the frog, blade etc, into a veneer thicknesser after one I saw posted here. (Can't remember the name, but you know who you are, thanks.)
First I've ever had, so tried it out today after the glue dried a bit.

Chickened out at 6 thou (0.15 mm) in light flame maple, so I can assume it works. [:Y:]

Hi, Colin,

Do you have any other pictures of your tool before it was assembled or in process of assembly? I think I understand what you've done there, but I'd like to see more of it. I assume you've fixed the frog to one block and use the regular plane depth adjustment to advance the iron into your veneer--correct?

Specially for you cphanna, all Sapelle except the AWB plate under the business end of the blade
Coach screws (hex head) and wood screws hold the frog to the top block.
Cutting edge is curved on the infeed side and straight for the other half of its width.

Similar thing here. Got the plane over a year ago, decided what to do with it 8 months ago, just got round to it yesterday.
