Here's a couple pics of some, well I am told mahogany, looks like maybe Sapele, IDK. It's a strange world indeed but this wood was purchased and used as dunnage. I guess money is no object in the oil biness. Purchased as mahogany btw.The sticks are 14" x 14" x 9', cubes are 16" x 16" Attachment: Wood.JPG

Here it is again in it's apres usage present state. Not like new but still useable. The good news is it's now going for auction, small semi private auction ![]() ![]() ![]() |

There might be some good neck wood in that lot, depending how deep the staining goes, and if there's no honeycombing inside. You might want to take a moisture meter along to that auction and get a reading on it. Could have gotten pretty damp in whatever hold in which it came over. Keep us posted on the outcome. |

It came over in the New state, purchased in Paris, France. Been here less than two years and sitting outside for about a year or less. I'm thinking, hoping the staining is just surface. I haven't seen it, other than decent pictures, but talked to someone who has. By the sounds of it I can use it for firewood and still be money in. ![]() |

If it was purchased as dunnage, I would assume it was not dried. So it is air dried (or drying) and the ends are not sealed. It is hard to tell from the pics but I would wonder if it will have a lot of checking and if it will start to move once you open it up. But. . . if, as you say, the price is low enough that it would still be a good value as firewood you don't have much to lose. If That opportunity presented itself to me, I'd probably go for it until I realized I have no way to cut up a 14"X14"X9' billet. . . |

Wrong thinking, Bryan! ![]() ![]() Alex[/quote] You might be right my friend. She is always telling me about how buying something we didn't need saved us money because it was such a good deal. This would be an easy sell. I need to get an in on this wood deal; I've been wanting a bigger bandsaw but couldn't afford it (until now). |

You could saw one-piece electric body blanks and sell them for $100 a pop. Look's like African Mahogany to me. |
