Well, happy Canada Day. What do u do to celebrate? Too much food? Drink? Fireworks? Excessive gift buying? That's what we do here in the lower 48 for holidays |

Mike: I assume it's not much different then you folks. Parades, festivals, food, fireworks etc. Also a big show on Parliament Hill in Ottawa the capital. I like to see it as a tribute to the hard working folk who worked the coal mines, farmed the land, fishermen who worked the seas, logger who cut the lumber, etc. And of course the military and first responders who help keep us safe and free. A lot of work done by the people who came before us in both our countries so we can have what we have. Every day I am grateful. Take care and all the best. Tom |

July 1 and 4 are celebrated slightly differently having lived in usa for 27 yrs and canada for 36. It seems in our neighbourhood that fireworks are a 3 day rather than 1 day event. starting on the 3 rd revellers buy huge quantities and spend big $$ from our local tent sellers in the mall , the noise starts at 6pm and does not end till 11. In vancouver it was usually a public display of fireworks and everyone went home. |

Many in the Ottawa area include eating beaver tails as part of our celebration. They can be eaten sweet or savory, but they're always best when fresh and hot. Brent |
