Post subject: | Performax 22-44 Pro |
Does anyone have experience with one of these? It's the older 1.5hp. I'm looking at one but the height adjustment is real hard to turn. We shot some wd40 at it but didn't really help. Grease? Thoughts on them in general? I currently use a 16" 1hp Ryobi wich does good, just looking to upgrade. Thanks! |

You should check out equipment sales and surplus in auburn. They sell refurbished jet and powermatic equipment. I got a 22" jet that was basically new for about the same price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I also have the 16" Ryobi, which I bought new. It was very hard to turn the height adjustment when I got it. The cure was to loosen the adjusting screws on the ways. It is a delicate adjustment....too loose and the cutter head will wiggle up and down when sanding. |

What do you mean by adjustment? It has various sets of gears and bushings and somewhere along it's difficult to turn the height adjustment. I suspect the gears and not the bushings. They look ok but maybe wearing out? Need some special grease?

Pat, on all my machines that adjust with a crank and threaded way, the threads need to cleaned periodically. This problem is worsened by milling pitchy or oily woods. For stubborn build up on the threads, oven cleaner works great. |

Quote: I'm familiar with that, but its the Performax 22-44 Pro that I'm asking. The principle for adjustment is the same. Quote: What do you mean by adjustment? The cutterhead slides up and down on ways. There are bolts with locking nuts that adjust how tight the sliding mechanism is. Loosen the locking nuts, turn the bolts, and retighten the nuts. If this adjustment is too tight, no amount of cleaning or lubrication will help. |

Loosen the locking nuts, turn the bolts, and retighten the nuts. Thanks John, but I think you are referring to the regular 22-44. The 22-44 Pro is totally different. It has two bevel gears and the table moves up and down instead of the drum.If this adjustment is too tight, no amount of cleaning or lubrication will help. ![]() |
