My daughters High school football team is in uncharted waters. They have never started the season 6-0.
The whole school is trying to get their team to be the featured game of the week. It will be televised locally and multiple stories will be done on the kids. I need the power of the OLF to overwhelm the voting poll.

Please go to this link and vote for the Vandercook Lake at Michigan Center, 7 p.m. Friday game.

Actually only two, the two girls are mine, the guy in the middle is my oldest daughters boy friend Cain. He's a good kid. Mom and I approve.

Done! Close race. It's cool that you Southerners still do the high school marching band thing. They could never fit it into their budget up here I'm pretty sure.

I know! Those Dutchmen in Manchester have a Big following and a very good team annually.
Vandercook as I mentioned has never been 6-0. They have only made the playoffs one in school history in 1996.
Now at 6 wins they qualify for their second ever playoff appearance.

Hmmmm, sounds remarkable similar to the other football team I follow.

Budget? laughing6-hehe Most high school marching bands have to really hustle for the money it takes to keep themselves going. Parents, boosters and fundraising events make it financially feasible. If it were up to funding from the boards of education, marching bands would probably go the way of the dodo.

But it is an important and fulfilling part of the lives of the students who participate. You can't find a tighter-knit group of teenagers than the members of the band. The kids belong to, and contribute to, and sacrifice for, something beyond themselves. That's what makes it worthwhile for the families to support the endeavor. The kids get a whole lot out of the experience.

Don you are 100% correct.
Our Marching Band made a commitment last year to raise 40k for new uniforms. They have been wearing the same uniforms for 30+ years. It was a BIG BIG deal last month when their new outfits came. Here is my daughter Leanna and her bf Allori showing them off the day they arrived, just 4 days before the first game. There is a LOT of funding raising to make this happen.

"Vandercook Lake at Michigan Center was in first place with 2,245 votes
at 10 a.m. Monday,
followed by Manchester at Napoleon (1,525),
Lansing Eastern at Jackson (1,136) and
Parma Western at Jackson Lumen Christi (557).
The first three games will all be played at 7 p.m.
Friday while the Western at Lumen Christi game is at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Fans can vote once per hour until the poll closes at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

But I could find no way to actually cast a vote ... I'm trying this from owrk so maybe it's a firewall issue...
