I just finished up my first guitar using Torrified Sitka Spruce, and I gotta say, Im extremely impressed with how she sounds. Ive been hearing so much about it that I figured it was about time to see what all the hype was about. It has a very open and airy sound with plenty of bottom end, but its the overtones and sensitivity of the guitar that I think owe there charactoristics to the Torrified wood. This top and back set were both bought at Stewmac.

This is my "Session" model and features the following:
Torrified Sitka Spruce Soundboard
East Indian Rosewood B&S
12 Fret Slot Head Neck
Snakewood Waverly Tuning Machines
Koa bound body, fretboard, & headstock
Koa fretmarker inlays
Brazilian Rosewood Bridge

Beautiful, Chris. The finish looks spectacular, and the top looks like it has a real depth of age to it. My best friend has a Taylor 510 from the early 90's with a Sitka top, and the look nearly identical.

Gorgeous! That top looks amazing. I like your end graft, the koa inlays, and the sunburst on the back of the neck, among other things. Another beauty.

Beautiful workmanship the finish work is outstanding. This is your first? Wow.
I recently completed a small jumbo same top and sides species. Top torrefied from stew mac. It has an amazing voice. Lotsa bottom end. The trebles sparkle.
Congrats!

Really nice Chris! What camera did you use for the photos?

Thanks guys.

No, this isn't my first build David. I've been building for about 7 years now.

Steve, I'm using an old Sony NEX 5 micro 4/3 camera. It's all about having the right lighting though. I spent some money on lights and several nice backdrops. Two soft boxes really allow you to capture the depth of wood grain, and to see the smoothness of finish work.

Jumpin' jehosaphina!
That's nice!
Did you do the finish?
I too like the heel cap.
Nice job!

Amazing guitar. I love the tinting on the neck, it really looks nice. One of the best I've seen in awhile.

Alan,
Thanks, yes I spray all of my guitars myself. It's McFaddin Nitro all the way, with a clearUV cured pore fill. I just renovated my workshop and now have a full on dedicated walk in paint booth, and this was the first one to get sprayed in it! Proper lighting and ventilation makes for a better finish and healthier lungs.

I've started doing the wrap around end graft and sunburst neck on almost all of my guitars. The end cap makes for a signature look, and is actually easier in my opinion. The bust on the neck pay tribute to the look of a violin neck.

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. I have two more guitars about to be buffed and sent out the door that I'll share with you soon!

Oh. Duh- you meant first using Torrefied. I'm a bit slow sometimes. And oh yeah the photo work is great!

Fit and finish is perfect on that guitar, excellent job. I love the color of that top too.

So what do you notice tone-wise about the sound?
