When I saw the floating pickup and fix pickup or piezo undersaddle pickup? I confuse for that. So I need your help please. thank you so much. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi Herry, I use a Benedetto S6 which mounts to the underside of the pickguard and floats slightly above the body at the end of the fretboard. |

I had a Jimmy Smith floating pick up that mounted to the end of the fretboard that I liked. You could use both types, and go stereo! |

I made one with a Fishman archtop bridge with a built-in piezo pickup, and this was blended with a fretboard suspended humbucker. The preamp circuit that I built was mounted under the pick guard with slider switches and watch batteries. The design for the circuit is over on the MIMF. |

For jazz guitar the Kent Armstrong PAF hand wound 12 pole humbucker is my favorite. Floating or mounted. https://www.archtop.com/ac_access.html |

Hard to go wrong with Bill Lawrence's classic A-400. Came out in the 70's, and still sounding sweet and articulate! Affordable, too. |

It depends a lot on the guitar you are putting it on. Carved spruce top? Carved maple? Laminate? I second the Armstrong hand wound 12 pole if you have an acoustic spruce top and you don't want to cut into it. A laminate top guitar is basically an electric instrument. Cut into it and mount whatever you like. Seth Lover's for eg. If you have a thin bent top like an old Selmer you may want a hexaphonic six string piezo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I will build carved spruce top ( I had two years ago from Alaska Specialty Woods) and Back & Side set (big leaf) Mahogany from my local area. all wood quarter sawn. What do you think if I use Bill Lawrence A400, consider with money I plan, another choice piezo pickup undersaddle built by Cafewalter. thank's I need your opinion. ![]() |
