Hi Folks.
I am currently building 12string guitar, I want to make peghead quite similar to Martin 12string pegheads. Does anybody has measurements of it?

I would really appreciate it.

Basically 7-1/2 inches long from the nut (not end of fretboard), 1-7/8 nut width, 2-7/8 or 3 at the end. From the nut it flares out to 2-7/16, then the sides are straight to the end. The first tuner hole is 1-1/2 from the nut. The battery in my caliper just flamed out but it looks like the holes are about 0.908 on centers, 0.408 from the edge. (I'll put a new battery in and confirm)

I made a drilling jig which helped space the holes

I used mini Grovers which work fine but I think the big washers are pretty ugly - I'd consider something with small washers or pressed bushings

The slothead in the above picture is not technically to Martin scale - I just took my normal 6 string slot head and extended it. It is roughly the same size, however, 7-1/2 long, 3 wide at the end with a 1-7/8 nut. I used a similar hole drilling jig which fits the StewMac 6 on a plate tuners (0.922). You should confirm the spacing with whatever tuners you will be using

Edit to add on more thought - the paddle head in the first set of picture will fit in a standard Martin sized case but might be very tight in some after market cases. The slot head was long scale and does not fit a standard case - I had to have a very expensive custom case made for it. One minor thing to think about when designing any odd ball guitar.

I'd say that's pretty much right. But on mine the tuner centres are exactly an inch apart.

However, on the one I "designed" myself, I brought the flare at the nut 1/16" out, and made the wide end 2 3/4". A subtle difference visually, but it allows all the bunched up strings to clear all tuning posts instead of bending around the posts and string wraps.

That can be a problem with any headstock, 6 or 12 string. I noticed the cover of the latest Wood and Steel that Taylor probably has it pretty badly on their 12's. The slot head is a bit figity to restring - there is definitely a sequence that should be followed.

I have the plans for a 12 string that are available on line, the body looks like a pretty generic Taylor jumbo but the headstock looks more like a Martin that is curved on the end. They don't give width and the drawing is not to scale (nor is the scale given), but the overall length is given as 8.116 inches. Anyway, one sheet gives the spacing between tuners as 1-1/16, the other as 1-1/8. They also show the tuner button shaft coming straight out of the unit (like, no worm or gear) so I really doubt this would work.

My advice to the OP is to lay out the hole spacing based on the tuners he wants to use.

I happened to have a new J12-16 on my bench today getting a pickup and I double checked the tuner spacing. This one was 0.993 between centers and 0.425 from the edge of the headstock. The second and 11th strings hit the first and 12th tuner posts - still tunes fine but might be a very slight problem replacing just those strings. All of the other strings run in a clean line from the nut to the post.
