Pulled the frets on a 1960 Esquire today. Already fretted a few guitars with these now (I think this will be my 5th refret in the last two weeks), but this one, these old Fenders, this is where I'm going to be really grateful to finally have a set like this!

Received mine yesterday. They're perfect - almost like unpacking gold doubloons. Thanks Andy.

Thanks definetly worth it to protect and keep them organized. Plus it solved the issue of figuring out which caul is in the press

Darkened the numbers with a sharpie and then hit em with some 800grit.

Hi All,

Had to make another batch of these and decided to lower the price a bit as manufacturing these is a little easier now. Out of this new batch, there are 6 sets left so I'm offering them to OLF members at the original price of $185+shipping until they run out. Use the coupon code: olf-ufcs-discount when you checkout.

p.s. I've never done a coupon on the website before so if you have troubles, please let me know either here or through the contact form on the website, we'll figure it out.

These are highly recommended and Dave Collins helped Andy determine the graduations in the individual cauls making them ideally suited for compound radius creation as well as standard fretting.

Like many special tools that come along they often are batched and not always available so keep that in mind.

Andy we have one or two sets at our shop, I'm home so I can't tell from here. If you need to sell these two they are already yours. We have no plans to resume the classes our daily work is much more profitable these days.

Please forgive me if this was discussed earlier, but would these be of assistance fretting a multiscale board, say 16" radius with 25.4 bass and 24.9 treble scales, or even more significant of a difference. Just trying to wrap my little brain around the geometry this late on a Sunday evening.

Thanks!

It's simply a set of cauls for pressing frets in graduations specifically calculated for what we do when we refret guitars, mandos, banjos, etc.

Before these were available all you could get were six or so cauls from Stew Mac. These fill in all the blanks and add additional functionality too.

When I fret I like to use a caul that is just a tad tighter radius than the board this ensures that the ends are firmly down. All our boards are compound so we are changing cauls every several frets or so and that's what this set does very well.

There was never any intent to design the set for multi scale boards but you could use it provided that the cauls themselves are long enough for the longest multi-scale frets. You do want the caul covering the fret ends to make sure that they are all the way down too not just the middles. I don't know how long the cauls are you could ask Andy I'm home now and not in Ann Arbor.

I'd like to build a caddy for my fret caul set. It seemed to me that dustyjeans had posted of picture of a beautiful caddy he made. However, either I am mistaken and it was someone else or, it is just missing. Is it possible to repost the picture? Thanks, and Happy New Year.
