Regarding the Studley tool chest: As wonderful a work of art that it is, it requires a commitment to a way of thinking about tool ownership that I just can't make work for me. I know, with great certainty, that I will buy some new tools over time. If I organize the tool storage space around the fact that I have six planes, each of an exact shape and size, what happens when I buy plane #7? Chaos, that's what happens. I need room to grow and reorganize over time.

Pat, there's no sawdust anywhere! How do you do that?

Pat, That's a wonderfully organized setup. I'm coming over to sprinkle a little sawdust and wood shavings around.

Since originally posting, I've set up a Husky 44" rolling tool chest base that serves for storage and a rolling workbench. Within that bench I have separate plastic organizers setup for general tool types - nut setup, bridge setup, fretwork, inlay, etc. The top drawers have all of my most used measurement tools and straight edges. A Kennedy holds most of my small files, measurement tools, reamers etc.

I'll try to get some photos posted.

Carl, my shop is divided into two parts. I have most of my big dust makers in the outside part. I do have a disc Sander (with hood), spindle sander, and drill press in the inside shop hooked up to a festool shop vac. I also have a pretty burley 400 CFM true HEPA filter scrubbing on the inside whenever I do sanding.
