Hi First time using zpoxy to grain fill rosewood back The thing is the zpoxy is really thick and difficult to move around the guitar.. this makes it tricky to scrape off and I have just spent an hour with a r.o.sander removing it (my hands are still tingling now) Watched YouTube videos and there zpoxy is quite watery It's pt39 and I mix it 50/50 Any help please I can't stick anymore sanding

I hate to report the bad news but that is the wrong product you need Zpoxy finishing resin. That stuff adhesive. I think it would be best if you scrape all that off --- many of the epoxy glues turn green when exposed to UV. Plus I think some will crystalize under finish and turn opaque. |

It might be a good idea to sand the back and sides enough to get rid of the old stuff that's in the pores. Here's why: if the old stuff is sticky and remains in the pores, it could affect the curing of the Z-Poxy Finishing Resin. My concern would be left over amines from the old stuff that would eventually migrate up through the new coating, months or more later, creating unevenness (is that a word?) in the final finish. Shellac top coats seem to be more affected than some other types. Pat |
