Romanillos likes fish glue but was hesitant to use fish glue on his spruce tops , because it would leave a dark line on the joint. Just doing this as an experiment to see if its as strong as titebond , hide , white etc glue. Anyone tried this ??? forgot it/s about 11in by 14.5in suitable for a baritone uke top |

I've used fish glue on about 4 cedar tops and all have worked out fine, any darkening of the joint really just looks like a winter growth line. I tried it on my latest which is spruce and indeed it left a dark joint line, so I opened it up and used titebond. |

Thanks for the feedback Rod . Having spent 20 yrs in BC I/ve always been partial to WRC. I went to maple ridge vocational to study cabinetmaking in 1979. Just checked the glue up, still soft .It/s hot an humid here in KC abt 91 F an 60 % RH |

I've been using fish glue for nearly all my top joints and a bunch of bracing for over 8 years. I never noticed a dark glue line... |

Just took out the test sample, an it is good. Will reglue the wrc in the house, instead of garage. The fish glue was cold and the temp in the garage was hot an humid. |

Tnx rod I/ve sanded the joints in the past , but prefer a sharp plane . I used a 10dollar millers falls jack to rejoint the glueline on the wrc top .This time it held as I let the fish glue warm up. |

Just a side note on suppliers, as far as I know nearly all the fish glue on the market is manufactured by Norland and then repackaged by various retailers (like LV). I buy direct from Norland as the prices are better, but you do have to buy larger quantities. |
