Post subject:  Martin 00028 EC specifications

I tired using the search on the site but I didn't come up with the specifications for the Martin 00028 EC. I am wondering about the top and back radius. I am thinking of making some radius dishes and thought that while I was doing the 15 inch, 25 inch and the 30 inch I would make a couple for the 000 also. However I have not been able to come up with the radius that would be needed.

Anyone know where I can get the specification for the Martin 00028EC?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Martin sound board bracing contour is 52' (X and tone bars) and the backs are 15' --- If you contact the factory they'll proudly tell you they make "flat top guitars"

The top of the rim is sanded flat with a 1.3 degree of slope from the sound hole to the neck block. Pictures of the rim sander can be seen here in this article.

If I'm not mistaken, Martin also glues their braces to the top on a flat surface - no dish or concave fixture.

Here's one of Martins sound board vacuum clamps -- I'll ask my Martin Engineering contact if its flat or slightly contoured.

There's plenty of boutique builders that use tighter radius bracing than Martin -- the folks at Santa Cruz and Taylor have indicated that this strategy increases treble response with the net result of less perceived bass response.

Update from the Martin factory

Hi Ken,
That is a top bracing fixture. The plate is flat with a 1deg. angle that starts at the back of the number 1 brace just above the soundhole and continues to the top or front block.
