I built this one for an old friend. He plays in a couple bands so it will be fun to see this one getting played in the wild. Adirondack spruce top Indian rosewood back, sides, and bridge Mahogany neck (stained) Cocobolo binding, back strip, and rosette Macassar ebony fretboard K&K Pure Mini pickup I'm happy with how it sounds and plays Now it's back to working on my 2016 Challenge guitar..... Thanks a lot for the comments, everyone. They're much appreciated. This is the second guitar I've built with the combination of cocobolo binding and Indian rosewood. I like the look a lot. The headstock is design is my take on the snakehead type headstock shape which I've always liked and it's intended to give something close to straight string pull. This was my first time staining a neck and I'm happy with how it came out, although sanding the finish was a pretty tense time because I most definitely did not want to sand through the stain. I tested three different colors of Behlen stains and went with the Hickory color. Three applications gave a color and darkness that are a pretty close match to the rosewood (except on the end grain of the heel which came out significantly darker, but that's fine). |

I recorded a clip on my iphone of me playing it so here's an idea of how it sounds, in the absence of a good microphone. I apologize in advance for my playing and my knees.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-Quxf--5mo&feature=youtu.be |
