| Post subject: | Bee 3 Vintage Guitar Show |
Hey, New to the forum, sort of. I joined last year and have been very busy since. I'm in Concord, NC and have been building for Ten years. I apologize up front if this is out of line in anyway. I recently signed up to show my guitars at the Bee 3 vintage show here in Cabarrus County. As this is a first for me, I was looking for advice on "things I should know" . Shows are crazy and hectic. Expect to be exhausted afterwards. Don't approach the show as a sales opportunity. While there is a chance to make sales, they aren't guaranteed. Rather, approach it as a marketing opportunity. You have the chance to get your work in the hands of lots of people and to introduce yourself and your build philosophy to them. Sometimes shows can turn into sales months after the fact- after people have had time to think more about what they played. These things can be rather overwhelming for the people attending them. It's like a room full of really expensive candy. If you aren't provided with a chair, bring one. Also, bring snacks. And, if you don't have an assistant who can hold down the table in your absence, an iron bladder. |

Thanks for all replies. I viewed it as a networking opportunity up front and would've been surprised if a sale was made. I made a lot of contacts and got a great deal of positive feedback. Overall I believe it was the right step to take. I did sell an old used Mandolin so it wasn't a wash. |
