Post subject:  Ov*tion Electrics.....

Here's some guitar history for you about Ov*tion who at one time accounted for one out of three US guitar sales..... :? :D

Ov*tion made electrics too which I did not know until one of our friends brought this one in. This is a "Bread Winner" by Ov*tion and had some innovative things about it such as a built in preamp. It's pretty well made if you can stomach the color... and this one had a complete restoration with some mods made to the controls.

Pictured is our friend Brian DeLaney who was Ted Nugget's on the road tech for ten years and actually survived as evidenced by the pic. Brian is a very good Luthier himself but also a professional musician who makes his living gigging and is very well known in Michigan. I'll add that Brian is a superb player and like many of us rockers as Brian aged his tastes expanded to jazz and beyond.

Brian plays in three bands currently and uses his bread winner in a Joe Cocker tribute band.

The mod to the controls is something that Brian likes to do on his stuff. His control knobs are often custom printed to include an "11" setting. :)

Yesterday Brian stopped in to pick up his Bread Winner that Dave Collins had just refretted with the latest speed bumps available from Dunlap. We don't like Dunlap wire but Brian is a friend so Dave used it upon request.

They made some even uglier than that.

Hey Chris! I thought when I posted this that you would remember these. For some reason I never knew that Ov*tion made solid body electrics.... I totally missed that one.

This one is basically a shape that has had everything else replaced including the frets, pups, pots, switch, pup guard, wiring, etc.

That might be why it's cool....:)

Never liked the look, but I imagine the ergonomics are great.

You have to give them points for originality.
There is nothing derivative about the design.
