Full on cognitive dissonance over here.

I need to cut some wood, and my saw is being a jerk.

Hoping someone with more general tool knowledge can set me straight.

Exhibit A-ImageBlade is square to the table on the outside.

Exhibit B-ImageBlade is not square to the inside of the table.

Exhibit C- Image Not a fine precision tool, but table appears to be flat.

How is this even physically possible?

The guides are not in the picture, but they are not touching the blade at all, so they're not the problem.

?????

Are you sure that your squares are square? haha
What happens when you put the larger one on the left side of the blade?

I am not quite catching the problem. The Straight Edge doesn't appear to be square with a blade?

Pat, the problem is that the blade is square to the table on one side, but not the other, which I simply can fathom how it's even physically possible.

The first two photos are the same. EDIT: Nevermind, didn't see that the other post was the right one.

I'm not seeing the problem yet either. I'll keep looking... EDIT: Ok, now I see it. The sliver of light beside the blade toward the bottom of the square on the left side. As Aaron says, switch sides and check. The smaller square looks like it might be hanging too far over the edge and tipping slightly toward the blade. Also, clear the dust away to make sure that's not tipping it at all.

Is it possible the weight of the larger of the two squares is pushing against the smaller of the two causing the smaller not to sit flat? Would you get a better result with the table insert installed supporting the weight? Food for thought...

here's what I'm seeing from the pictures:

the smaller square (left side) appears to have a 1/16" gap at bottom and be touching at top
the larger square (right side) appears to be totally square with blade
the table top appears to be flat since that beam across it makes it look so
the 2 squares when on the table top appear to be touching all the way

here's what I think: the smaller square's handle is only half on the table, the other half is in the throat...the mass of the blade plus half a handle is tipping it over and making it appear out of square...try putting the larger square of the left side and see what happens

Is one of your squares resting on the weld for the band?

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the squares is not square on the outer edge.

Also, I have four RK blades, and they all do it, the same amount.

The logical conclusion is the table is not perfect.

If you chose to accept this mission then you must remove the blade, scrape the table with a razor blade, then lay a straight edge right where the squares sat, and use a light to check it.

Ruling out red shift, I'm miffed! Ok.....how about the two squares in that spot with no blade? Or just perhaps just in from/behind blade?

Try rotating the blade and recheck.
Check for crud on the wheels.

Hmm ... maybe one of the wheels is out of round and somehow putting torque on the blade that is causing it to twist or bow slightly? idunno

You are assuming the blade is straight but I don't see a straight edge against the blade, aligned with the blade, not the table.

The blade could have compound curvature in it - twist and bow.

Get one of these, Ed. Put it on the right side of the table and zero it out, then put it on the blade to get the angle relative to the table, and then measure the angle on left side of the blade. Repeat the whole operation on the left side of the table, as well. Only zero out once per entire operation. It should tell you if the table is the problem.

Ed, your wheels are slightly out of line causing your blade to have a very small amount of twist. No big deal.

Aaron, that's good to know. I set the table for square against the fence, and had a much better time of resawing than previous experiences. I think I may have fallen prey to the infamous 'dull out of the box' Resaw King blade last time, this seemed to cut with little force required.

The last time I totalled the table insert, the sides billet bounced up and down like a jackhammer and bent it like potato chip.

But today, I got ten ovangkol and three walnut back sets without the blade seeming to dull at all. Much more along the lines of what I expected out of a skookum resaw set up...
