I'm doing a cabinet job with hundreds of parts that need to be labelled, and came up with this scrap-made tape holder. ![]() ![]() ![]() Alex Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Neat! So, I take it you unscrew the can to change tape rolls? |

doncaparker wrote: Neat! So, I take it you unscrew the can to change tape rolls? That's right, Don. It would take all of 30 seconds to change a roll. There's a 1/2" self tap screw in the open end, and a construction screw in the closed end. The can I used was a standard 14oz. Alex |

Alex, I think I almost like that better than the commercial one that I bought. I like that it lets the tape rolls individually, I don't like the tight fit on the commercial unit because it limits what combination of tape widths you can put on. |

Finally something I have not been able to find! Clever! Now if Dixie still made the wall mounted cup dispensers, I'd be set. |

I was thinking that if you wanted more rolls on one dispenser, just screw two cans together, bottom to bottom, and mount it on a wall or just sitting on a bench top. I'll be making another one for double sided tape rolls. Alex |

Or, is there a size of PVC that would work instead of the cans? |

My first thought was PVC pipe too but really anything could be made to work cardboard shipping tubes come to mind. It might be nice to have 3 or 4 sections that will each handle a wide roll that can be pulled out individually when a roll is empty so you don't have to disturb all the other rolls. I have wanted a dispenser that could sit on the counter and hold wide and narrow masking tape and strapping tape. This has given me inspiration. |

I've been studyin' this for a week now and have run a few test mock-ups. I have run into a stumbling block that I need some help on. When I saw this, I naturally thought that "string beans" would be the way to go....and it worked fine with a string bean can. But then I got to considerin' that maybe lima beans would make for a more stable platform. I found very little difference in performance. So I am asking you guys, what is the preferred vegetable or fruit for making the best tape dispenser for acoustic guitar tape? Curtis |

I heard that CF Martin used a peaches (packed in their own syrup) can. And that was back before adhesive tape was commercially available, so he was REALLY ahead of his time. |

Dalbergia rosewoods are legumes, so I think that should settle the discussion, Curtis! ![]() Alex |

There we go. CITES has killed this innovation before it got started. This dispenser is banned as of 1/17... Have to go with the lima beans but we all know this will not work as well... |

The whole point of having a multi roll benchtop tape dispenser is so you don't caught needing a bunch of tape quickly and have to find it and tear the strips. I would think any fruit can would work as long as it was pre-pared. . . |

It's working like a charm! I can grab 2-3 pieces of tape at a time, and don't have to look all over for a roll of tape! ![]() ![]() Alex Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
