Just say-in -- this method is hard to beat, takes less than a minute per brace.

Any one besides me have a concern over a sanded surface at the brace/top joint? I always refine the surface with a plane before i glue it down.

I've done it both ways but I cut mine with a plane now. None of the sanded joints have come apart so far.

LOL... I like the self sanding part that's somthin' else!

I just use a plane too. Once you rip of a full length paper thin curl you are done. I don't think that sanding vs planing makes a difference though, on paper yes a physicist can show that a planed surface is better but...

When I first started out, I had a jig for everything and probably 3 different ones for arching braces. I figured out that in some cases the jig solves a problem but isn't much better than without the jig. I just use a plane. But, if it helps, then use it.

I use a planed edge, method is a combination of Marios and Bruce Sexauer. While my Veritas Shoot board plane might be overkill the results speak for themselves.

I use a plane and then LMI sanding jig, except I use 120 grit on the jig . either way will work
