I bought some thinner blanks (.050") and was having some trouble with breakage. Glueing two together with hide glue solved the problem and doubles the yield for the time spent sawing. You have to keep the saw vertical because any error will be compounded on the bottom piece. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Excellent idea! I'll add one also. A piece of screen over the end of a shop vac and secured to the work board. No pearl dust. Works great. |

Yes, and this next tip is real basic: Wipe a little paste wax on the blade of your jeweler's saw. |

For complex patterns I have had good luck gluing the pearl to some of that very thin model airplane plywood you get in hobby shops. I think it's 1/32. With white glue you can just toss it in hot water after to separate. |
