I have some lacquer I’m getting rid of. If you’re on Oahu and would to try it let me know. Its free.
Unopened gallon Cardinal Luthierlac gloss
Unopened gallon Cardinal satin.
Some mixed gloss in quarts…cut and amber added.
.75 gallon vinyl sealer
.75 gallon retarder
.5 gal reducer
Manufacture date of lacquer is 4-13. Expiration is 4-14.

Also got unopened Target em6000 bought in 2015 but that might be chancy since its waterborne.
Full retarder and crosslinker for that.

Saw the ad for hazmat drop-off in this morning paper so going to set up an appointment.
I spray in my garage and the fumes are too dangerous plus I need to think about my neighbors. They are really nice and accommodating but some of them have young kids.
I sprayed 9 flattops and 2 archtops the end of last year with Enduro-var over silver-tip laminating using the advice I got from John Greven. Came out ok considering its my first time so going waterborne from now on.
I don’t usually sign-in but visit here every morning so let me know.

Which I could help out but, I'm a thousand miles away.

I see you used Silver Tip. I've seen it for sale on many sites but never heard of it being used on a guitar. I am a fan of System Three. What did you think of it?

Yeah. The shipping to Hawaii cost me just as much as the lacquer...$300 for the goods and $300 hazmat shipping.
Seems a shame to dump it. The city and county doesn't charge for the drop-off so I don't have to air-dry the solvents.

I'm using it because that's what John Greven uses. Its my first time using epoxy fill and can't compare it to anything else. The only thing I was looking for was something with no amine blush. The guy at Fiberglass Hawaii where I bought it said System Three is basically marketing and that their laminating resin is just as good. Greven builds guitars so I went that way. At any rate, the silver tip is formulated for wooded boats so I know my guitars will float when the tsunami hits. And I like System Three too.
I used the fast cat...the guy at Fiberglass Hawaii advised slow. I may mix next time. Using the fast cat, I could do a back or sides on one guitar. If I tried to start on a second guitar it would start to jell. About 10 minutes working time in 85-90 temp.
I ended up using up the 100 pill cups I bought on Amazon...thought it would last my lifetime...I'm 64.
