I have not heard anything from them since the day I ordered it. In fact you just reminded me about this whole thing. Kind of shiddy if you ask me. Probably won't be ordering anything from them again.

I got an email on Jan 3rd saying March 16th. Nothing since but ads.

Is this about the Festool sander? If so, I've received two updates since the initial communication from Tool Nut telling me the item had been placed on backorder. From the start they said delivery wasn't expected until sometime this spring, so I think they've done an okay job of handling things; it's Festool that screwed up. There's an "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the page on the general Tool Nut ads.

A quick update on your Festool PRO 5 Sander order. Unfortunately, our PRO 5 Sander shipments from Festool are running behind the original expected schedule. Based on our latest information, we are expecting your sander to be shipped on or around March 31st.

You can contact us by phone at 877-866-5688 to update your payment information or shipping address, if needed.

April 21st according to the email received today. I attribute the difference in dates to where one might sit in line, as we were originally advised March 16-23 window versus the hard date of the 16th for those that appear to have ordered early in the sale window.

Yep, I got the April 21st version this morning too.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. It'll make a nice 1-2 punch with my new Mirka!

That's what I was looking for, figure to use the Festool for a final finish sander.

I've had my ETS-125 for about a decade now. The wait will be well worth it.

Good to hear, I will hang in there and be patient. My primary ROS is a Mirka Ceros so I am certainly not deprived and have been close to just blowing off the Festool order several times.

Got the same spiel here mar 31 .Hope the wait is worth it . I was also planning to use it for finishing sanding.Keystone abrasives called me and told me about their blue line ROS paper which goes up to 4k . I was talking to john greven2years ago via e- mail and he uses his festool to 4k before buffing. Anyone else use the festool for finish sanding !??

I just finished 20 minutes ago. :)

After buffing a finish I hand sanded last week, I realized I hadn't done a good enough job getting rid of the 400 grit scratches and sprayed three more coats of Cardinal. I just finished leveling the Cardinal using 800 grit Granat 2, followed by a pass with 1000 grit Platin 2. I'm following the buffing method Chris Ensor detailed here, which only requires sanding to 800, so the pass with 1000 was really just for vanity.

I've tried leveling with 400 grit Brilliant 2. The 400 grit is still a little too aggressive for me, so I'm going to order a box of the 500 grit Granat 2 for leveling next time I have one ready. I'll follow that with the 800 grit Granat and 1000 Grit Platin to get ready it for buffing. Leveling with the 800 took quite a while, and while the resulting surface is flawless, I don't want to take that much time to level between sessions.

Idk about you guys who run a business but I can't think of one time in almost 30 years that I ever sold someone something without having it in stock ready to go.

Pisses me off!

Got mine last week. Can't believe the value in this finish sander.
I'll be buying a lot more of their tools as soon as the price comes down to this level, LOL.

I agree with McKenna. I ordered one of these so long ago I need to go back into my receipts to see if it's already paid for. I did receive the sandpaper a week after I placed the order, which has been useless and taking up space.

That being said, I received an email this morning saying that the sander has been shipped. I look forward to receiving it.

I just got a mail from ToolNut asking to fill out a survey. It's not their fault but I would not be sending surveys to customers who waited months on a back ordered product. :) I'm sure it's automated that everyone gets a survey, but still.

Pretty funny. They haven't sent me one but, of course, I haven't received the sander yet either :(

I guess I either made a typo on my email or just never put it in. I don't know, but I have not heard a peep from them. I also received the sand paper within a week of ordering.

Mine is supposedly on its way as well. At this point I'll believe it when I see it. And, yeah, sending a survey request in this situation is just asking for trouble. idunno

Since the delay was first announced I've wondered how Festool (and their distributors) could have been so far off target in their estimates of the number of orders this promotion would receive. It makes me nervous when manufacturers have to scramble to meet demand. I hope these units prove worthy of the Festool reputation for high quality and performance.

I just need to get some 5" discs for mine. I've been using 6" Mirka AutoNet mesh discs - cheaper than the Abranet discs, and I can't see any difference in quality.

Post subject:  Re: Fein sander update

Thanks for the heads up Alex, I've been using the 5" Abranet and like them. Haven't seen the Autonet disks but will have to give them a try. The Abranet are pretty pricey.

Edit: I found them on Amazon. In US dollars, about $0.50 to $0.70 each for boxes of 50 or about $0.20 cheaper per disk than Abranet. May be able to find an even better price elsewhere, Amazon isn't always the cheapest.
