I'm new to spraying. Using the em6000 with a Fuji & a#4 tip which may be a little big but hope to make it work. after about 6 coats I am getting a slight orange peel effect. the curves on the neck seem to be a better. I am considering either using the retarder or thining with water.. Shop conditions are dry & around 65de. What should I do? I also wonder about using those abrasive pads (maroon or gray) does anyone use them? |

I don't have experience with a Fuji system. I spray em 6000 with a 1.4mm tip. The #4 is 1.5 according to my quick web search, so it should be fine. With my compressor and gun setup, when I get orange peel, it's because the atomization is insufficient. Increasing the pressure fixes that for me. It's worsth some time spraying test panels while you play with each control on the turbine and the gun to learn its effects. The distance of the gun from the surface makes a difference, too. When I once tried a turbine unit (Apollo), I had problem with the heat from the turbine drying the em 6000 too fast. The finish wasn't orange peeled as much as it was grainy. I knew I wasn't going to keep the turbine, so I didn't solve that problem. |
