Not sure if this is the best spot for this but hopefully someone finds it useful.. I have a SteelCity Band saw and the dust collection using a shop vac on it is pretty much ZERO.. Makes resawing very tough as you have to vacuum out the saw after every cut or things get off balance quickly, that and of course just the general dust issues..

Threw something that looked like what he did together very quickly using a scrap piece of PVC and duct tape.. Resawed a couple of tops and virtually zero dust in the lower cabinet of the saw!!!

Very happy with the fix!!!!!!!!

Timely! I just moved my bandsaw and reworked my dust collection system. I haven't been happy with the hose in the bottom compartment so I left a second hose hanging that I wanted to get up near the bottom of the table somewhere. I was working out how I wanted to connect it. Now I know.

Nifty design! From what I understand of dust collection though it's the volume of air movement that is what works best not the velocity. That's why you see 4in pipes. But that is a good point source solution.

The reason you want the volume is because we are generally collecting the dust/chips from a larger area and we want to remove a large amount of material. You do want to keep the airflow high enough to keep the dust moving in the tubing, namely keeping the velocity up in the whole path. That is how the cyclone dust separator works, the dust flows with the air velocity but when it comes into a large volume the air slows down dropping out the dust. The dust hitting the wall also slows the dust down. Oh oh, I'm starting to get off topic.

I believe this is more or less correct, my issue is I'm in a 10x11 space and no dust collection other than a shop vac so this was a god send...

The pickup on my Jet saw is about 3" below the table, so it's not very effective. I had a similar idea to the one in the video, but have not had time to implement it as yet. With luck it will work out well enough and preserve the ability to tilt the table.

I bought new bearings and blades for mine.
Getting ready to tear it apart and rebuild.
The two ports on my saw are worthless.
I was trying to figure out how to attach a vacuum hose.
This gives me some good insight.
