I want to start laying up my own b/w/b purfling and would appreciate any info on where to buy the veneers. I've seen a lot on E-Bay but not sure about them. I prefer some that won't "run" or bleed into the spruce when French Polished.

I've used this stuff, and never had runs with FP. I'm sure I'll say that and the next batch will run like Usain Bolt, but for now they have worked well. Ordered twice, about ten sheets of black/ ten of white each time.

Maybe the fiber veneer from RC? They are a forum sponsor. I use the 0.020 thick when making binding that has purfling attached. Get a zero clearance fitting for your bandsaw and slice them up!

LMII sells dyed veneers, in both .5 and .3mm thickness, including black.

I like to get maple veneer locally for the white. You can often find curly veneer, which, since it's generally flat cut, means that the curl shows most effectively on the edge grain that you'll be seeing in the layup. You can also sometimes find ~.8mm ( the old American standard thickness of 1/28") stock, which gives you more choices of line widths.
