I purchased & have studied the Jeff Jewitt finishing video available from O'Brien, and would like to give a short review. I have been a furniture builder for 45 years & have recently built 2 guitars and 2 ukuleles. Finishing has always been challenging & for most furniture now I have it professionally sprayed. Recently however after buying jeffs book & video on spraying I finally got my own Fuji system & started on my #2 with the em6000 & I am 95% happy with my results.
Most of the content in this video you have probably all heard of. If you are already happy with your finish you don't need this, although there are some interesting touch up & fix things. ie. have you ever had a dark line between a maple end graft & maple binding? He shows how to fix(color) it. He has numerous ways of dealing with defects as you proceed through the stages. For me I learned a lot about several ways to buff the finish & how to fix scratches & burn through at a late stage.
It is laid out really well (3 hours) & newbies would get a lot out of it. I'm glad I got it

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
