Awhile back I found a tutorial about using hot hide glue. It was mixed up and then put into tiny containers then frozen. When they needed a boat they put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Does anyone have a link to this tut? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
