For those that may be interested, I thought I would post some pictures of the repair I did on the neck split by the hot rod truss rod.

It's not the ideal fix, a new neck would still be the best, as the profile is changed ever so slightly by the patch, but for my son in law this will work just fine. The change in profile is virtually unnoticeable unless you look very hard for it, and the neck feels fine when you play it. Now I could adjust the rod and get the action exactly where I wanted it.

All in all I am pretty happy with the repair

Nice Job, Damon!
I hope it holds up.
Next time try the Blanchard T/R. Costs a bit but works wonderfully and takes up less depth than the H/R.

...or the Martin rod...over a million installed and we still have not heard of a documented failure.

Looks Good! It seems like the fabric and resin should spread the stress over a wider area. Have you tested the rod to show how much adjustment it gives you?

Thanks Clay, yes I have adjusted the rod to the relief on the neck I need, and it seems to be holding just fine so far. If this was for a customer I probably would have made a new neck, but since it will stay in the family I will be able to keep an eye on it! :)
