How do you all go about squaring up the trench of a nut? I’ve been practicing setups on guitars around the house and I find myself struggling with getting this right. I thought I knew how but now I’m not so sure lol. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

When I glue my headplate on I put a small square clamped on the neck blank. Then I put an old nut with the right width in and glue my fretboard right up to it. Let it dry a bit then pull the nut out. New one fits. |

I do it similar to Glen, but are you talking about getting the nut slot right during a build or Changing a nut at a later time? |

For rework I use a combination of several different files and small flat chisels to clean up the slot then custom fit the nut to the slot. |
