Guys, I seldom sleep. Instead, I read.... A LOT. It is no secret in the restaurant biz that Bourdain frequently savaged other famous cooks and restaurant owners. The guy dripped with snark every time I saw him on TV. In fact, the only time I can remember him acting like a normal person was the video posted by the OP.

And his politics were savage as well. He was a well known fund raiser and donor to Communist terror groups in Central and South America (especially Venezuela). He starred in and directed tourism commercials for Castro's state tourism agency, and wrote a tourism pamphlet for the Hotel Nacional in Havana - "The Tony Bourdain Guide to Cuba". He owned framed photos of Castro and Guevara, hung in his home with pride.

The nightly news won't tell you this....but what I've posted is all true. Anthony was NOT a nice guy.

And this is my last word on the subject.

Take it somewhere else...

So, how about that Rachel Rosenkrantz, huh?

she has a wonderful smile. otoh, anyone care to comment on that "Hauser" top bracing? seems way too stiff and stout, almost steel string like, above the bridge with some pretty heavy scalloping. and the wide closing V struts with a very tall and short middle section also seem off. the top also seems very thick, maybe that´s the Hauser thing or maybe she does a lot of sanding on the outside. or maybe... what do i know, i guess whatever works for her. but i´m curious.

good´old Tony.

Or better yet, a guitarmaker that happens to be a woman.

A perfectly splendid idea...those willing to do so might step outside for whatever form of altercation might be settled with a best 2-of-3 in shuffleboard.

It's actually not as rare as I thought it would be, especially when it comes to acoustic guitars. But then again when I got into the trades, I thought I'd never see another woman electrician, but by the time I retired I'd say we made up about 3-4% of the members in my local. My daughter is actually more mechanically inclined than my son. Never thought I'd be saying that either.

Indeed it's not so rare.

I personally know 3 in Vancouver, and I've no doubt there's many more I've yet to meet...

My daughter runs her own guitar repair shop in Brooklyn with another woman. Her partner makes violins and violas. Both exceptionally competent. brooklynlutherie.com

And if I'm not mistaken, they are featured in the Stew Mac catalog for coming up with the idea of taking pictures of guitars brought in for repair, so there aren't any misunderstandings. Like claiming that Les Paul clone I brought in was the real thing.

My wife used to like to make rosettes for me, something I personally hate doing :D

Congratulations. If it is the same young woman, Sew MAC featured he using tinted lacquer on water slide paper to disguise a new binding on a vintage guitar. You must be bursting with pride.
