Just wondering if any one actually has come up with a way to clean these papers. I like to use them to rub out shellac before the final glaze coats and for general finish repair but they gum up pretty quickly and they aint cheap.

Like these seen here: https://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_S ... apers.html

I have washed mylar backed micron papers that have gummed up from sanding and used a scotch brite pad to remove the "pills" but i'm not sure how well it would work for finish. Maybe try washing in denatured alcohol.

I bought something like this 15 years ago by 3M said to be polyester backed micron paper. I used it with mineral spirits and water. Still have some and just used 60 micron to level shellac finish. It is between 150 and 220 grit and cuts great. Seem to last forever. I had thrown it in a jar with mineral spirits 10 years ago and it still works fine. I did not know where to get more and am glad to see this.

Hopefully you won't use the solution that dissolves the glue that holds the grit! oops_sign
