https://youtu.be/gS78naDiB4k?t=1092 It's like some kind of miter saw outfitted with an abrasive cutting wheel or something? Actually, the rate the material is removed I don't know if it could be abrasive. It's cool though! |

You can see it at 22:45. Looks like a homemade gang saw or sanding disk. Just a quick way to do the job. |

+1 with Brad. A carbide dado blade makes very smooth, flat bottomed cuts. 8 inch diameter? Ed |

I'm surprised they cut the sides to accept the braces. After the dado blade it looked like he pared the ends down to nothing with the chisel. |

Dado blade, a wobbler it looks like rather than a stack but a dado blade is what I see. |

And this opens the age-old discussion of letting the braces into the lining or squashing the ends when you glue on the plates Ed |

Ruby50 wrote: And this opens the age-old discussion of letting the braces into the lining or squashing the ends when you glue on the plates Ed I tuck every brace including the finger braces. My guitars are often described as "tight". I think the kids use that as slang for "nice". |

That is a cut-off saw, called a swing saw, iirc. Yeah, with a dado blade set. clever way to cut the brace ends. Watch those fingers! |
