Post subject:  A very good value in small disc sander
I came close to pulling the trigger on a Proxxon bench top disc sander but could never follow through due to some of the online complaints of plastic construction, etc. Menard's has a house brand disc sander that is terrific for nuts and saddles and is only $40. The disc is remarkably balanced and has a plastic coating that makes removing self-stick sanding discs a breeze.

Tom, I saved up my menards rebate cards and waited until that sander was on sale. It has become one of the most used tools in my shop. Since the majority of my sanding duties are done with 5" psa discs, I have a very wide variety of abrasives to use with it. I would buy another if this one ever dies.

Lidl hasn't made it over this far yet, I hope they do. Aldi is trying to take over the planet. :D

Looks like a useful little tool. Apparently Lidl and Menards are among the few places that sell it. No Menards here in California and they won't ship it here (fear of Prop. 65), and the usual suspects don't list it or any copycats. It says here Menards has stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Maybe I'll pick one up next time I visit Mom in Lansing . . .

Glad you posted this. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on the more expensive option, but at this price I’ll give this guy a go first.
